Renee and I have been classmates and friends since 1981. We both graduated from the University of Texas - Dental School in San Antonio in 1985, and even though Renee ended up living in San Diego, CA, and I moved to Knoxville, TN, our friendship of 26 years continues to prosper. Renee is a full time philanthropist, she donated her time in local public health clinics, and makes generous contributions to non-profit humanitarian organizations such as Room to Read and DDS4Kids. Renee's support and encouragement has been my source of strength in the challenging work of volunteer dentistry.
After my 3 long-week in India and some long-flights home, I found a card from Renee in the mail saying "... Guess what? I am going to Vietnam with a few benefactors of the Room to Read Organization with John Wood, its founder. We will be going to open and dedicate some new schools, libraries, computer rooms, and visit the homes of some of the girls who have won scholarships. Ever since I planned to go I have thought of you so many times! There is no one I am more proud of than you Lan. You are "Karma Yogi" someone who devotes themselves to selfless service.
Last Friday, I graduated from the Chopra Center's Seven Spiritual Laws of Yoga Teacher Training. I am now a certified yoga instructor. This is a way I believe I can bring wellness and healing to people."

There is no coincident in life, every one we meet, every relationship we are blessed with, every thing in life happens for a reason. I thank God for the friends I have in my life!
