I had found DDS4Kids very randomly on the website when I was a senior college student. Of course, in the beginning, I was a little uneasy about going on this trip because I didn't know anything about this organization except that it was a "service above self" work for the children of Vietnam. I figure this could be the worst 2 weeks or the best 2 weeks. Well, till this day, I say it is the best 2 weeks of my life. I remember asking Dr. "El-John-O" why he kept coming back to Vietnam with DDS4Kids. He replied " we just got hooked" and that's exactly what happened to me. Devoting just two weeks of my life for the children of Vietnam and working with Dream Team of 2005 changed my outlook in life and attitude as a future dentist. From bagging antibiotics in little ziplock bags to "painting" fluoride on the children's teeth to sporting "bunny ears" to earn some laughs, each one of us, with or without dental experience can have an impact on these childrens' lives. And I guess this is the reason why Dr. John and many more are "just hooked" to DDS4Kids like me. Dr. Lan, save a spot for me during March 2008!
